Chris Renner's 2009 Bull Elk
428 Gross Score from General Hunt Area

Main Beams were 56 and 57 inches. G3's were roughly 20" long.
Awesome Bull Chris! I wish I could just see an Elk like this.

The biggest one I saw on the last day.
You can call it a 4x4, a 3x3 with eye gaurds or even an 8 point
he still taste the same. Lots of fat too.

Previous years pictures

Boone and Crockett green score of 340 4/8 before deductions and
assuming the broke G3 on the right side was at least the same length
as the left side. As it is, it still scores approximately 326 with the
points that were left.

This guy was taken by my good friend Mike with a long bow Labor Day weekend

and he green scored 359 6/8 before deductions and final score of 350 even.

Good job Tyler on your first Elk Hunt!

Congratulations Alice on a wonderful hunt!

Meeteetse Wildlife

"Black Footed Ferret" Our most infamous resident

The "thought to be extinct" Black Footed Ferret was discovered on the John Hogg Ranch.

The Pitchfork Ranch is well known for the fact the last known colony of the endangered species was found on its grasslands.

Moose can be seen throughout the year at
different locations.

They are the most popular animal you can see.
If you find one, take lots of pictures.

Numerous deer can be seen anytime of year.

We have both Whitetail and Mule Deer.

Although very elusive, Elk can be seen at
different times of year in hay meadows, crossing
roads and on the high meadows of the
Absaroka Mountains. Their numbers are
estimated in the thousands. The individual
herds have been estimated to have
500 - 1000 animals in them.

Bull Elk gather up in bachelor bands after the
rut, in the late fall and early winter. They will
stay in these bands until the velvet falls off their
horns and the rut starts again.

Different species of eagles, predominantly
Bald Eagle, call the cliffs and trees of the
Greybull and Wood River drainage's  home.

Numerous waterfowl can be seen in the lakes
and ponds.

Here is a common neighbor of Meeteetse.

Antelope roam all the grasslands around the area.

Buffalo roam the grasslands of the Antler Ranch.

The elusive Badger can be seen from time to time.

The fishing opportunities are abundant in the
rivers and lakes around Meeteetse.

Beaver call the rivers and ponds in the area home.

Mountain Big Horn Sheep can be seen in the high
country or along side the highway in the winter.

Female sheep

"Little Wahb"
Tale of a Grizzly Bear
Little Wahb is on Display in Meeteetse Museum.
He was taken 10 miles from town for killing
livestock. His estimated weight is over 800 pounds.
There are Grizzly Bear and Black Bear in the
mountains and drainage's around Meeteetse.

Wolves can be seen from time to time around
Meeteetse. They are becoming more and more
common which is unfortunate for the other
wildlife in the area.

 Muskox

According to one web site I found about Meeteetse, we are supposed to have these guy's here. Well, we've been looking hard because there is no limit on them in Wyoming, Maybe we just haven't found them yet! If you see one here let me know and send picture please!

Meet the Big Horn Basin Riders for 2019

Support for our deployed troops happens in many ways....

This old town is hoppin' t'night!

The Big Horn Basin Riders have been running their annual fundraiser events around the Big Horn Basin where riders all join in to raise money for sending various support around the world to armed forces personnel from the Big Horn Basin area.

This year's goal is to raise $10,000 for making and shipping care packages!

In 2019 the riders are holding their July 5, 2019 7pm "Meet & Greet" at the OASIS MOTEL & RV PARK here in Meeteetse, Wyoming.

Take-off is set for July 6, 2019 at 9am as they ride out of Meeteetse for this year's event. Kickstands Up!

We hope you enjoy these photos! We'll post more info as the 2019 event unfolds.

Riders went to several towns around the Big Horn Basin having their BINGO draws.

Later on Saturday, after 4pm, everyone will be returning to OASIS MOTEL & RV PARK's back yard

This year's Silent Auction will be raising funds toward their goals.

Come on down to join in the gathering, to bid on great items and to enjoy the festivities as we celebrate American freedom.

We will update this story as more information comes in.

See their Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/groups/BigHornBasinRiders/

Big Horn Basin Riders is a non profit 501c3 group of riders that love to ride and love our freedom we have thanks to the men and women serving our country.

"We host events to raise money so we can send care packages to our Troops serving from the Big Horn Basin area."

It is very expensive to send packages.
We are currently sending 45 boxes the 1st Thursday of every month.
It cost us around $750 each month to send these boxes.
The men and women who receive these care package get to have a taste from home.
It's the least we can do to say Thank you for fighting for us.
We host a big event on the 4th of July to raise money and invite everyone not just bikers.

Its a great way to celebrate our Freedom!

We are always looking for help to keep this going.

We will find a way to keep this going.

We wouldn't be here safe if it wasn't for their service.

Good evening sports fans!

The shooting registrations are trickling in. I encourage everyone who is coming to shoot to get your registrations in as soon as possible. By the end of July would be excellent. That way I can tailor the matches to the number coming.

Many thanks! Go to the range and practice!

I remain,

Yakima Red

Subject: 2019 Meeteetse Trail Regulators Rendevous

Hello all,

Time to start thinking about the 2019 MTR!  We are scheduled to be in Meeteetse August 15, 16, 17,  2019.

Paul, can you please make date changes to the registration form and email me so I can send it out to the group?

I was in touch with Dan last night and we will get an email out in the next couple days as he would like confirmation of regulators coming this year.

I would also like to send out survey about the rally so any questions would be appreciated.

Sherri or Dan,  Does anyone know if there will be a taste of Meeteetse this year?

Is there anything else we need to take action on before June 1st?

Hope everyone had a good winter.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Could you please let me know you got this message so that we don’t leave anyone out. Thanks.

Gabby

P.S.  If you could please reply all to make comments that would also be appreciated as then no one is left out. Thanks.

The 3 Amigos, the Range Officers and Danny Sedam have arranged what appears to be another great time in Meeteetse. Now it is time to register so they can plan for the number of Regulators arriving in August.

Danny Sedam has purchased the OASIS MOTEL & RV PARK. Danny did not purchase the former Vision Quest motel.

More rooms will be available and reservations can be made by calling them at the OASIS MOTEL 307-868-2551.

They have a new e-mail address:

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and website:www.ommw.net

Information for MTR is as follows:

The cost will be $70.00 per regulator and includes:

  • Breakfast on Friday

  • Continental Breakfast on Saturday

  • Dinner Event on Saturday evening

  • Morning Coffee

  • Firewood

  • Transportation to the Range

You can pay at the OASIS MOTEL when you check in.

Lunch will be available for purchase at the range and a donation bucket for the Range Officers expenses.

A registration form is attached. I am trying to update information on Regulators, so please complete legibly. Also attached is a Schedule for the shooting events and a Shooters Release. Please complete the Registration Form and Shooters Release and return to me by July 1, 2010. Send no money to me; pay when you check in upon arriving in Meeteetse.

You still have time to order merchandise until April 1st. I have enclosed the list of available items. Remember to bring your challenge coin, as we encourage its use again. I have a lot of coins available to order.
